Types of paper

International Journal of Science and Informatics Technology (IJOSIT) accepts several types of manuscripts, including original research articles, review papers, and case studies, which contribute to the advancement of science and informatics technology.

Original research paper
An original research article presents the results of novel and systematic investigations and is classified as primary scientific literature. The manuscript should clearly describe the research problem, objectives, methodology, results, and contributions to the field. The typical structure includes: Introduction and background Problem formulation and/or research objectives Methodology Results and analysis Discussion Conclusion Submissions are expected to demonstrate scientific rigor, methodological soundness, and originality, particularly in areas such as computer science, information systems, data science, and emerging technologies. Recommended length: 4,000 – 7,000 words

Review paper
A review paper provides a comprehensive and critical overview of existing research on a specific topic within science and informatics technology. It synthesizes prior studies, identifies research gaps, and outlines future research directions. Review articles should: Present a structured and systematic analysis of the literature Highlight key developments and trends Provide critical evaluation and insights Suggest future research opportunities This type of paper is particularly valuable for understanding the state-of-the-art in rapidly evolving fields such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, and information technology. Recommended length: 4,000 – 6,000 words (or more, depending on scope)

Case Study
A case study presents practical implementations, real-world applications, or problem-solving approaches in science and informatics technology. It typically focuses on specific cases that offer significant insights or innovations. The manuscript should include: Description of the problem or context System design or approach used Implementation details Results and evaluation Lessons learned or implications Case studies are expected to demonstrate how theories or methods are applied in practice, particularly in areas such as system development, data-driven solutions, and technological innovation. Recommended length: 3,000 – 5,000 words

General structure of Review Paper

Manuscripts submitted as review papers to International Journal of Science and Informatics Technology (IJOSIT) should present a comprehensive, critical, and structured synthesis of existing research in science and informatics technology. The structure should ensure clarity, coherence, and strong academic contribution.

Paper identity
The identity of a review article follows the same format as an original research paper, including: Title of the manuscript (clear and specific) Full names of authors Institutional affiliations (department, institution, city, country) Corresponding author’s contact information (email address)

Abstract
The abstract should be written in a single paragraph (150–250 words) and include: Brief context and objective of the review General description of the methodology (e.g., systematic review, bibliometric analysis, or narrative review) Summary of key findings or insights Concluding statement highlighting contributions and implications Keywords: Provide 3–6 relevant keywords representing the core topics (e.g., artificial intelligence, computer vision, data analytics).

Introduction
The introduction should be concise and well-structured, typically consisting of three main components: Background Presents the general context, importance, and scope of the topic in science and informatics technology. Problem Statement / Research Gap Identifies trends, limitations, inconsistencies, or gaps in existing studies. Purpose and Contribution Explains the motivation for conducting the review and outlines the objectives and expected contributions. The section should clearly define the focus and boundaries of the review.

Materials and Methods
This section describes the methodological approach used in conducting the review, ensuring transparency and reproducibility. It should include: Data sources (e.g., Scopus, Web of Science, IEEE Xplore, Google Scholar) Search strategy and keywords used Inclusion and exclusion criteria Number of articles selected and screening process Analytical methods (e.g., systematic review, bibliometric analysis, qualitative synthesis) Authors must ensure that all sources are credible and properly documented.

Results and Discussion (Main Section)
This is the core section of the review paper and typically comprises 70–90% of the manuscript. The content should be organized into logical and thematic sub-sections, such as: Methodological approaches Algorithms, models, or frameworks Comparative analysis of existing studies Trends and developments over time Domain-specific applications (e.g., healthcare, smart systems, industry) Each paragraph should: Focus on a single idea or theme Integrate findings from multiple studies Provide critical analysis, not just description Authors should: Compare and contrast different studies Highlight strengths and limitations Establish connections between findings and research questions The review should be analytical and synthesis-driven, rather than a simple summary of literature.

Conclusion
The conclusion should: Summarize the key insights from the review Provide critical interpretation of findings Highlight research gaps and unresolved issues Suggest future research directions Unlike original research articles, the conclusion should emphasize knowledge synthesis and theoretical implications.

Acknowledgment
This section may include: Appreciation to individuals or institutions that supported the literature search, data collection, or manuscript preparation Funding sources (if applicable).

References
All cited works must be listed in this section. IJOSIT adopts the IEEE citation style. Authors are required to use reference management tools such as: Mendeley, EndNote, Zotero Requirements: Minimum 20 relevant references Majority from recent and reputable international journals All references must be cited within the text.
